Mobile IT Unit

What is the Mobile IT Unit?

The mobile IT unit is intended to meet the educational needs of adults living in rural areas who are unable to access training in their local areas or the urban centres of Mullingar and Athlone. The IT unit is a mobile training facility for one-to-one and small group tuition.

What courses will be on offer?

Introduction to Computers:

This IT Unit can cater for individual and groups needs. Certification is available through FETAC and Microsoft. The unit will prioritise classes for those with no experience but advanced classes and certification are also available.

When will the unit be available?

It is intended that during the coming year people living in all rural areas throughout the county will have an opportunity to access training in the mobile IT unit.

Who can use it?

The IT Unit is available to all adults in County Westmeath. If you are a member of a local community education group and are interested in training the Unit can come to your neighbourhood and provide tuition at a time which is convenient to all. Employers may book the unit to provide IT training for staff.

Is there a fee?

Classes organised through the Literacy Service will be free. The remainder will be charged fees. Community groups and individuals on Social Welfare benefit may be entitled to grant aid. Generally people will not be paid while doing a course but they will not lose any of their benefits.
