Athlone Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS)

All courses are flexible. Students may choose any combination of subjects in order to obtain their objective. As their learning proceeds and they gain new skills and confidence they often find they have abilities never before imagined. In the first week students are invited to attend a class in each subject in order to choose an individual study plan.

 

Full Time Courses

General

The general programme is suitable for first year students who left school early or have been many years out of the educational system. It can be combined with any subjects from the other options.

Computers

Students are advised to start with 3-4 of these subjects and progress to the others when they feel competent. Some students focus on applications such as Word Processing, others find pleasure in web authoring and programming.

Business

In the modern world an understanding of business is essential for all workers.

Art / Craft

The art programmes are very comprehensive and thoroughly enjoyable. Students progress at their own pace.

Painting Pottery Stained Glass
Batik Colour and Light Calligraphy

Certification

Junior Cert/Leaving Cert: English and Maths are offered at these levels, more subjects can be added subject to demand.

European Computer Driving Licence ECDL

Athlone VTOS is a training and test centre for ECDL and ECDL Advanced. The centre won an award for excellence in 2003.

Post Leaving Certificate FETAC (NCVA) Level 5

Courses in Business and Information Technology and Art and Craft.

Microsoft Office Specialist Training and Test Centre

Offers training and testing in core and expert modules in Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. This will lead to a MOS Master qualification. 
Microsoft Certified Professional also available.
