Westmeath Adult Educational Guidance Service
The service is a county-wide project with offices in Mullingar and Athlone. We recently starting providing an outreach service in the Cara Phort Resource Centre in Ballynacargy where we are available every second Wednesday from 10am to 12.30pm.
Westmeath Adult Educational Guidance Mission Statement
The mission of the Westmeath Adult Educational Guidance Service (WAEGS) is to enable you to reach your own potential, make informed educational choices and take independent action in relation to these choices in an impartial, confidential and supportive setting.
WAEGS will take care that every individual is treated equally and fairly under the law.

Services Offered
- Appropriate information, advice and guidance regarding educational options
- Identification of learning needs and possible ways of meeting them
- Goal setting and action planning
- Enabling students to identify barriers which would impinge on their educational progression and facilitate them overcoming such obstacles
- Referral to other appropriate agencies
- CAO process workshops
- Interview techniques, CVs and interview practice
- Provide support to Adult Education staff
- Evaluation and identification of gaps in provision
The long-term career interests of each client are taken into account when providing the above services
